Sunset Voices is the fictional account of thirty-three men and women nearing the end of their lives. While these snapshots are primarily stories about death and dying, they also touch on living life in the sunset years.
As a hospice volunteer and a member of a Hospice singing group, Rev. D'Vorah experienced first hand the beauty and the power of people at the end of life. As an ordained Interfaith Minister who officiates at memorial services, she knows the importance of providing a context within which to tell the stories of our loved ones lives. Finally, as a woman in the last third of her life, she believes that we can learn to more fully appreciate our lives by embracing our mortality, and offers these "snapshots" as a way to do so.
Sunset Voices is a valuable resource for ministers, hospice workers, caregivers, psychologists, gerontologists, family members with elderly relatives, and others who work with, live with, and are themselves people living in the sunset years.
Sunset Voices Snapshots at the End of Life eBook D'Vorah Kelley
A truly inspired work and a must read! These 33 fictional accounts provide an honest glimpse into the end of life. I was overwhelmed with emotions while reading this book. I am amazed that a couple pages of prose can provide the framework to challenge ourselves to redefine how we think of the elderly. D'Vorah helps to liberate the marginalized by sharing their experiences and thoughts as they move toward the infinite. This is an absolute must read if you work in hospice or are concerned with spirituality, humanity, or personal growth.Product details

Sunset Voices Snapshots at the End of Life eBook D'Vorah Kelley Reviews
Wonderful, moving stories, that make you think. It was great.
Beautifully written, Sunset Voices brings you into the lives of people as they near the end of their time on earth. The book made me more aware of the beauty, power, compassion and redemption available to us at the end of our lives and made me contemplate my own life as I age. It is a quick read that has the power to touch you and perhaps even change the way you interact with a dying friend or family member nearing the end of his or her life, or to make different decisions about your own life.
As a friend, I wanted to enjoy your book, as I know how excited you were to have written it. But honestly, as I started to read it, I almost put it down as it made me reflect upon my own age, the passing of my parents and the certainty of my own demise. However, as I read a few snapshots, I have to admit I was captivated by the glimpses of lives well lived and the joys shared in the simple things in life like the sounds of gulls at the shore, the smell of sand on a sunny day at the beach or the tasty treat of a glass of violet syrup shared with one you love. Your stories allowed me to peek at life's end without the harsh beep of machines or the cold antiseptic smell of a lonely hospital room. Thank you for taking me further along life's journey with smiles, reflections and a few tears. Fondly, Nanci.
It is a pleasure of reading this book. It is a quick read and absolutely delightful!
I will be purchasing copies for friends and family. It is an important to reminder that every life has its own special story.
Thanks for a good read D'vorah! Looking forward to more. Love this natural, easy writing style.
The word pictures in this book present a thoughtful look at life as it is slowing down. People as they age are often hidden. These reflections give glimpses of lives that have many facets.
